After the (SC) Supreme Court’s decision on August 28 to conduct the final Year (Last Year) Exams 2020 this year, all major universities across the country have organized to conduct the exams in September-October. Many universities including Allahabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, BHU, et al. have already released the schedule for the ultimate semester exams.

As per reports, examinations are going to be held within the first week of October, and therefore the practical exams are going to be conducted between September 15 and 30, 2020.
Maharashtra (MH) Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on Thursday, September 3, 2020, confirmed the last year's examination for college kids, which can now be carried from their respective homes. As per recent improvements, the written examination is going to be held within the first week of October.
Talking about an equivalent, Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant said that the officials will attempt to release the results on October 31, 2020. He spoke to the media and confirmed an equivalent, after meeting the governor and vice-chancellor. Samant further said that the final report regarding this decision is going to be submitted by 12-noon on Friday, September 4, 2020.
Highlighting on the decision, he said that the executives insisted the exam be held a meeting, and it had been approved by the Governor, keeping the coronavirus outbreak in mind. the choice was released keeping the Grants Commission(UGC) guidelines in mind, however, over a previous couple of months, the government has been trying hard to cancel examinations, to make sure safety for college kids amidst the pandemic.
Practical examinations are going to be conducted between September 15 and 30, 2020, and are expected to be conducted thoroughly. University Vice-Chancellors are asked to make a decision during this regard. Furthermore, efforts also are being made to make sure students don't visit the centers for practical examinations.

The practical examinations for the final-year exam will commence on September 15 whereas the concept examinations are to begin from October 1.
Practical exams for final-year (BE) students will inaugurate on September 15 and theory exams are likely to start by October 1, said governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, as chancellor of universities, on Thursday. Koshyari also asked state universities to end the last word exam process, including the publication of results, by October 31.
University vice-chancellors were proposed to reconsider convoying the exams using the safest practicable methods, including MCQ (multiple choice questions) and visual mark identification (OMR), and to hold offline exams only in extraordinary cases. VCs (vice-chancellors) is directed to hold a gathering of the board of examinations and so the tutorial council within the approaching two to three days and draw up their exam timetable at the earliest.
Several college directors were "aghast" at the exam dates though. "Firstly(Now at present), we don't recognize where the students are. Secondly, to presume colleges to be accomplished with the technology to manage practical exams and viva voce in eight days goes to be impossible. Campuses are shut for six months and plenty of are COVID care centers."
Considering the shortage of it slow for setting papers, Koshyari has asked varsities to coordinate with Savitribai Phule Pune University and so the University of Mumbai to prepare question banks. The committee of vice-chancellors of all universities in Maharashtra in its report has recommended to the government that every paper for final-year examinations of professional and non-professional courses are often of fifty marks (50 Marks) with a duration of 1 hour for completion. Oral examinations or viva are often held through applications like Skype or over the phone.
The government has asked the vice-chancellors to submit the timetable of exams and other such details by September 7, following which an equivalent is going to be placed before state emergency supervision authorization for ultimate consent, state higher and technical education minister Uday Samant confirmed.
The SC directing that students can't be promoted without writing examinations, the state had established a committee of vice-chancellors (VC's) directed by Suhas Pednekar, vice-chancellor of the University of Mumbai (MU) to suggest how the method are often conducted safely. The committee submitted its report back to the state higher and technical Department of Education on Friday with 11 recommendations.
“The committee is advised that students should be permitted to seem for exams from home. it's also recommended that every paper is often of (50 Marks) fifty marks with a duration of 1 hour to finish. Oral exams or viva are often held through Skype and other such applications or over the phone. The format of exams will need to be decided by the Board of Examinations and Academic Council of the schools,” said Samant, adding that they need many options available like multiple-choice questions (MCQ), open-book exams, optical mark recognition (OMR), and assignment-based exams.
The committee has also recommended seeking extension up to October 31 from University Grants Commission (UGC) to finish the examination process.
Offline or physical exams are going to be conducted only where the scholar isn't during a position to seem for an equivalent online, Samant said.
According to the report, 90% of the scholars have mobile phones or desktops which may be used for online exams. the ten of scholars, who don’t have either of the 2 or have internet connectivity issues, are often allowed to seem for the exams physically at Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) centers, officials said.

Samant has already declared that final-year examinations are often conducted from the primary week of October.

It was easier said than done. Convoying lectures online opened a Pandora’s box. Dr. Medha Tapiawala, an economics professor at the University of Mumbai for the last thirty years, says that COVID-19 taught lessons about new normal altogether spheres of life.
She says that within the initial days, everyone waited for remedial measures, but soon ran out of patience and decided to test sure delivering classes online.
Dr. Tapiawala said that “I found this suitable for nowadays, where I can call students by their names, visible on screens, share website & youtube links, and have open discussions. I found students are clearer to propose me for his or her questions. On the lighter note, the question most asked within the last 5 months was- 'Am I audible??' and therefore the presumable answer is 'Poor Net connection '.”
She reports that there are restrictions to online work, affordability, and availability of materials. But online education (E-Class) is that the answer to fight the stand-stillness and gives the message that 'whatsoever happens life goes on'.
“The real instruction occurs, where learners don't only learn academics but also are revealed to group behavior, team building, experience with social /public norms, personality development, etc,” adds Dr. Tapiawala.
On the alternative hand, Lekha Nayar, a serious school teacher by profession said she was hesitant initially given how teaching online is merging your personal space with students, where you will be monitored by parents also.
“Online teaching (E-education) could moreover be unusual expertise on my side. Originally, I accustomed to be slightly unpredictable as I notified, I would be identified by the relations of my students but soon I became comfortable. All a similar, I miss the closeness and so the attention contacts of my children and feel as if I'm lecturing a blank wall. I hope that things will change soon which things will return to normalcy.”
With that being said, the probabilities of teaching online were limitless. Teachers could now experiment and use a plethora of tools as an aide to indicate. Deviprasad Goenka Management College, Prof. Saurabh Deshpande says, “The situation has inspired us to resort to unique & innovative methods of delivering academic content to students. this can be often a learning experience for everyone, including teachers. We are aware that a digital divide currently exists, but we must collectively find inclusive ways to bridge it, and confirm that no student is overlooked because of a lack of access to technology".
The work from home model didn’t come easy. With pay cuts, loss in admissions, the responsibilities to stay afloat were quite ever. Director, MET Institute of Mass media, Dr. Mangesh Karandikar says, “Educationists are managing the pandemic and lockdown with more work than ever. As days transformed into months, everyone recognized that this wasn't a departure. All teachers had to revise their method of teaching, and initially, though it added barely stressed, by now everyone has been able to cope up with the 'new normal' in education. My organization members are working remarkably hard to enable optimum teaching and learning, ensuring that the syllabus is roofed in time, and also effectively delivered.”
“I don't think there has been significant activity switching because each institute is inside the identical boat. In many institutes, salaries are revised, and people are paid anywhere between 10 to 40% less, citing a loss in admissions, absence from work, etc. All teachers are working more because instead of traveling, they're spending longer on their subjects. There are consequently, both, positives and negatives for educationists,” he added.
With that being said, our educators still give us a ray of hope, albeit it'd appear to be the earth is near finishing. As Prof McGonagall once said, "We teachers are somewhat good at the spell, you know.”
